Name NavinaAbout I have always been creating. As a child, I would make clothes for dolls more than play with them. Activities like embroidery, sketching, clay modeling have always been on my hobby list. The building blocks of Lego always held a special fascination for me. It is hardly surprising that I have chosen to be in the field of Graphic Design. The visual identity I choose to represent myself is the ViewFinder. It is a simple tool, more often than not, a handmade one, that is used to find the desired composition ~ a View. Graphic Design is all about providing an effective solution to a visual problem. I believe that there are various elements and principles like Composition, Color, Unity, Type that help us arrive at a fruitful conclusion. Type plays a very important role in Graphic Design. My experience tells me that it can contribute a lot more than just form a bunch of words. It can be used very effectively as an integral part of the Graphic or the content and contribute to the overall message. My other interests include painting and exploring different art mediums. I would describe my self as someone who likes to explore and someone who enjoys the journey and the discoveries along the way. The Painting and Drawing mediums I have attempted to explore are Oils, Acrylics, Watercolors, Color Pencils and the digital media. The wonderful realization is that even though each of these mediums are so different and have their restrictions, they can be made to work to the advantage of a piece. I also like reading childrens’ stories. I have a keen interest in book designing and I love how Illustrations play an important role in how a child perceives a storybook. In my observation, children often remember a story or a piece of literature better if the illustrations are effective and contribute to the story. Some day, I would like to be able to draw professionally for picture books and other publications. My greatest strength is the realization that there is always something new to learn and new advancements to be made. It is this quality that makes me never want to stop learning. |
